Built in 1910, the historic Outdoor Forest Theater is a 540-seat amphitheatre on Mountain View Avenue and Santa Rita Street in Carmel-by-the-Sea. The stage is framed by towering pines and huge open fireplaces: a majestic backdrop for PacRep's plays and musicals.

Every August and September PacRep presents an annual family musical, followed by the annual Carmel Shakespeare Festival in October.

Parking

The theater is in the middle of a residential neighborhood. There are a limited number of free spaces on the property, including a few accessible spaces, plus free street parking. Please come a little early and take care not to block driveways: vehicles that block driveways are ticketed and towed.

Audio amplification headsets are available for patrons with hearing difficulties.

Food and drink

Concessions include cookies, candy, coffee, tea, soft drinks, water and wine. You're welcome to bring a picnic lunch or dinner: visit one of our local theatre friends to pack your basket, or enjoy a meal before or after the show.

Animals

Service animals are welcome.

Directions

From Highway 1: take the Ocean Avenue exit and continue past the first stop sign for two blocks. Turn left onto Santa Rita Street and continue to the bottom of the hill. The entrance gate is on the left, where Mountain View Avenue meets Santa Rita.

From downtown Carmel: go up Ocean Avenue to the junction of Ocean, Junipero and Mountain View. Bear right up Mountain View for 3 blocks; the Forest Theater gate is on your left.

There is a passenger drop-off area in the Forest Theater's main parking lot, so guests, picnic supplies, blankets and cushions can be dropped off before you park. Street parking is recommended on Mountain View and Junipero Street. Please don't block residential driveways: vehicles that do are ticketed and towed.
